Job Description

·         Manage the emergency intervention project as per the project proposal and budget secured.

·         Assist the project team to develop weekly and monthly objectives and work-plan for the project and ensure that all planned activities are achieved in due time.

·         Assist and supervise regularly the proper implementation of SFP and OTP programs.

·         Ensuring that all project partners have a clear understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation requirements and incorporate them in the project implementation.

·         Coordinate and insure that reports from project areas are received timely, compiled, analyzed and submitted to Concern Ethiopia and governments. Compile interim and final donor reports and monthly internal reports.

·         Provide both formal and ongoing training to Concern Ethiopia Emergency field team and partners in planning and implementing emergency response projects.

·         Ensure proper and timely budget utilization of emergency project.

·         Assist the project finance/logistics unit in tracking & managing allocated project budget, provision of financial projections, cash transfers and monthly financial reports to Finance Department.

·         Contribute to budget preparation and revision as necessary.

·         Monitor staffing needs and assist the recruitment of local staff and support staff development through coaching and mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and partner staff.

·         Ensure good collaboration and participation of government and other relevant partners.

·         Liaise with relevant national, international and government bodies to ensure information sharing and coordination, regarding response plans, agreements and reports.

·         Ensuring that Monitoring & Evaluation plans are implemented with the involvement of relevant stakeholders including receiving and managing M&E database

·         Co-ordinate the activities of programme and support staff and manage and evaluate their performance.

Gender Equity: 

·         Ensure that programme/project staffs have a strong understanding of gender mainstreaming and that gender mainstreaming tools are effectively implemented across all programmes/projects 

·         Coordinate with the Gender Equality Coordinator in planning,  allocating and implementing a programme budget for gender mainstreaming

·         Ensure that programmes have a thorough gender mainstreaming design and plan from the conceptualization stage

·         Ensure that gender mainstreaming is effectively implemented and monitored throughout the project cycle management process.

·         Ensure that gender sensitive indicators and M & E plans are in place and that they are effectively monitored

·         Ensure quality reporting on gender mainstreaming in all programme reports 

Perform any other related works requested by the line manager.

Job Requirements


·   MPH/ MSc or BSc. degree in Public Health, nutrition and/or health related fields of study with minimum of three years or six years relevant experience respectively in an emergency & development context;

·   Experience in nutrition programme (CMAM, IYCF, TSFP)

·   Minimum of three years NGO experience

·   Management experience in wider emergency response programmes

·   Experience of managing multi-sectoral teams

·   Finance Management skills and some experience in donor compliances

·   Good analytical, monitoring and evaluation skills

·   Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive

·   The ability to work in teams/ isolated situation and stressful environments and under pressure meeting deadlines.

·   Initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.

·   Fluent spoken & written English and local languages



·         Good administrative skills

·         Computer Literate

·         Self-starter and motivator

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skill

Special Skills, Aptitude or Personality Requirements:


  • Fluent English (written and spoken) and excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural field locations and experience fairly basic conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Resilient with a good sense of humor
  • Demonstrated experience of team building and working in a participatory manner.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working in a changing environment.
Ability to work under pressure with numerous deadlines, and priorities.
